Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  I'm having playback problems.  What can I do?

A.  If video is jittery,  you may find that the fullscreen video mode (accessed by the fullscreen icon in the video player) will result in smoother playback.  If problems persist,  please make sure your web browser is up-to-date.  For viewing episodes of A Public Education, we recommend the Firefox or Chrome web browsers, which are available free for download, and generally offer an improved web browsing experience.  If you are unable to enjoy the episodes using our streaming player, remember that every episode can be downloaded and viewed on your desktop.

Q.  How do I watch the video in fullscreen?

A.  On the video player itself, there is a small icon in the bottom-right-hand corner of the player, next to the volume control, which will enable fullscreen mode.  You may experience better video playback on a clip by watching in fullscreen.

Q.  How do I save this episode to my computer?

A.  The producers of A Public Education have made each full episode available in the m4v video format for download.  The download link can be found below the video player on the episodes page.   The m4v format is designed for iTunes software, and iPod devices.  The iTunes software is available for both Windows and Mac computers, and can be downloaded for free at Apple.com.

Q.  What if I don't have iTunes?

A.  If you would rather not install iTunes, any number of other video players will be able to run a downloaded episode.  For instance, the excellent VLC Player is another free video application that can play almost any video type, including m4v.
